Youth Christian Education

Youth will attend the 10:30am service through the "Children's Sermon" by pastor, then dismissed to class, usually at 11AM.

The only exceptions are first Sunday of month to stay for communion, and those month's with a 5th Sunday.

See Pastor's letter below.

Primary & Elementary classes meet in the Education wing [Activity Room]; using Cokesbury materials

Middle Schoolers meet in the Education wind [Library]; using Submerge

Teens meet in the Youth Room [south end of building, downstairs]

Summer is over and with fall, the First United Methodist Church Lansing is returning to its regular schedule of 8 am and 10:30 am services.  We invite you to either the 8 am Sunday Worship Services or the 10:30 am Sunday Worship Services with an embedded Youth Christian Education program for youth.
Beginning this year, the Youth Christian Education program will overlap the 10:30 am Sunday Worship Services. Everyone will start worship together; however, the youth will be dismissed following the Children’s sermon for age appropriate education programs. Please note that our adult group will still meet at 9:15 am with Tom Laidlaw leading.
Since participation and engagement in regular worship is important for everyone’s Christian development, the youth will remain for the entire service on the first Sunday of every month to receive communion AND on the fifth Sundays of the month (October 29th, December 31st, April 29th.)  On 5th Sundays, the youth will be the worship service leaders—liturgists, ushers, greeters.
To allow time for quality programming, the youth programs may extend past the worship service for up to 15 minutes. During this time, we invite parents and chaperones to join with the other parents in the fellowship room for refreshments.
Balancing a child’s schooling, enrichment or sports extra-curricular activities and spiritual development is difficult.  We hope this education / worship arrangement allows parents and youth to form Christian friendships—a supportive peer group, and continue to learn the foundations of Christian faith needed for growth and direction.
On September 10th, Sunday School will meet at 9:15 am to participate in the breakfast hosted by All God's Children's Preschool and kickoff.  We hope you will join us. Please do not hesitate to call our church office with any questions.  We look forward to seeing you on Sundays.
In His Service,
Rev. David Price
